Important Update: Xamarin CaptureSDK EOL & SDK Access Changes
Dev Community Updates by Macie BlakemanLanguage localisation by ChatGPT
We’re reaching out with two key updates regarding Socket Mobile’s CaptureSDK:
1) End of Support for Xamarin CaptureSDK
To remain aligned with supported development platforms, Socket Mobile is officially ending support for our Xamarin CaptureSDK. Microsoft ended Xamarin support in May 2024, and we will no longer maintain or release updates for our Xamarin SDK. We encourage all Xamarin developers to transition to our .NET MAUI-supported framework for future projects.
2) Private CaptureSDK Access Ending in June 2025
Previously, CaptureSDK was hosted in a private, firewalled repository available only via the Socket Mobile Developer Portal. Since December 2024, CaptureSDK has been freely available on public platforms, and we’ll permanently close access to the private SDK repository in June this year.
You can now access CaptureSDK on the following public platforms:
- GitHub – Platform-specific SDKs
- NuGet.org – .NET packages
- pub.dev – Flutter packages
- Maven Central – Android SDKs
- CocoaPods.org – iOS SDKs
This shift supports our commitment to transparency and delivering highly accessible, powerful integration options for a wide range of development needs.
We’re excited to start this new chapter for CaptureSDK and are here to support you at every stage. If you have any questions, feedback, or would like guidance using CaptureSDK via these public platforms, our support team is happy to help.
Developer Support Now on GitHub
Along with these changes, we’re moving our support process to GitHub to offer a smoother, more efficient experience. Developers can now report issues directly in the relevant GitHub repository for your platform.
Before submitting an issue, we highly recommend reviewing the developer documentation to find answers to common questions and ensure a smooth CaptureSDK integration.
