Important Update: Xamarin CaptureSDK EOL & SDK Access Changes
Dev Community Updates by Macie BlakemanLanguage localisation by ChatGPT
We have two important updates to share regarding Socket Mobile’s CaptureSDK:
1) End of Support for Xamarin CaptureSDK
As part of our efforts to stay aligned with supported development platforms, Socket Mobile is officially ending support for the Xamarin CaptureSDK. Microsoft discontinued Xamarin support in May 2024, and we will no longer provide maintenance or updates for our Xamarin SDK. Developers currently using Xamarin are encouraged to migrate to our .NET MAUI-supported framework for future development.
2) Private Access to CaptureSDK Ending in June 2025
CaptureSDK was previously hosted in a private, firewall-protected repository accessible only through the Socket Mobile Developer Portal. Since December 2024, it has been freely available on public platforms, and we will permanently close the private SDK repository in June of this year.
CaptureSDK is now available on the following public platforms:
- GitHub – Platform-specific SDKs
- NuGet.org – .NET packages
- pub.dev – Flutter packages
- Maven Central – Android SDKs
- CocoaPods.org – iOS SDKs
This transition reflects our commitment to transparency and our dedication to offering highly accessible, robust integration solutions for a wide range of development needs.
We’re excited to begin this next phase for CaptureSDK and are here to support you throughout the journey. If you have questions, feedback, or need assistance using CaptureSDK on these public platforms, our support team is ready to help.
Developer Support Now Available on GitHub
As part of these changes, we are also moving our support process to GitHub to provide a more streamlined and efficient experience. Developers can now report issues directly in the relevant GitHub repository for their platform.
We strongly recommend reviewing the developer documentation before submitting an issue, to help resolve common queries and ensure a smooth CaptureSDK integration.
