HP ElitePad an ideal mobile POS platform for the Socket Mobile 8Qi attachable scanner
Blog by Socket Mobile, Inc.At NRF (National Retail Federation), HP introduced a Retail Case for their ElitePad tablet. The Retail Case transforms the ElitePad into a Mobile POS platform by including a hand strap when mobile and a quick-release dock when at the counter.
The system is balanced and sturdy -- yet easy to use and carry in a sales environment. HP also included two PED (Peripheral Entry Device) mounts (K7T93AA) with attachment points on both sides of the case bottom. The PED mount is
intended for third-party peripherals (such as a payment device and barcode scanner) that have Bluetooth® wireless technology, connected to the ElitePad.
The PED mount is the correct size to mount the Socket Mobile 8Qi and the ergonomics are perfect! The mounting point on the case is in the ideal location for scanning and to trigger a scan with your thumb while your hand is in the hand strap. Also, there are two slots -- useful for left-handed or right-handed operation.
All of this makes the HP ElitePad an ideal mobile POS platform for the Socket Mobile 8Qi attachable scanner. SYNNEX (HP Distributor) approached us to create a demo for their Retail Now show August 2-5 in Orlando ( www.gorspa.org).
We created a demo using our SocketScan 10 demo app installed on the ElitePad which highlights all of the features and capabilities of the 8Qi. Total Computing Solutions (an HP developer) is implementing their POS App with our scanner on the ElitePad. They ultimately plan to demonstrate this solution (ElitePad + Retail Case + 8Qi) in a Book Store setting on the show floor.
